  1. The wording “patented product, reproduction prohibited” that Chong Fu (transliteration) Hardware Co., Ltd. put on the packaging of its “patented triangular silicon razor” and “patented semicircular silicon razor” was a false, untrue and misleading representation with regard to content of product in violation of Article 21 (1) of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed an administrative fine of NT$50,000 on the company.
  2. When marketing the “Waltz (translation)” housing project, Qun Xiang (transliteration) Development Co., Ltd. and Fu Wang International Development Co., Ltd. marked the machine room space as part of the bedroom in the “floor plan for the 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11F” posted in the online advertisement and printed in the brochure. The conduct was a false, untrue and misleading representation with regard to content and use of product in violation of Article 21 (1) of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed administrative fines of NT$200,000 and NT$100,000 on the two companies, respectively.
  3. Taiwan Vinegar Biomedical Co., Ltd., a multi-level marketing business, violated Article 7 (1) of the Multi-level Marketing Supervision Act for failing to file with the FTC before changing its product items. The FTC imposed an administrative fine of NT$50,000 on the company.
  4. When marketing the La Polo 12-inch 360-degree rotation fan on shopping channels, Eastern Home Shopping and Leisure Co., Ltd., U-mall Co., Ltd. and La Polo Co., Ltd. demonstrated that the motor of the fan could be soaked in water while it was running and claimed the “fan can be washed with water directly without dismantling” and the “motor can be washed with water directly.” The wording was a false, untrue and misleading representation with regard to quality of product in violation of Article 21 (1) of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed an administrative fine of NT$100,000 on each company.
  5. When marketing the Zhong Yang Xing (transliteration) UC-187A high-efficiency and high-speed fan on shopping channels, Shopnet Homeshopping Co., Ltd. and La Polo Co., Ltd. demonstrated that the motor of the fan could be soaked in water while it was running and claimed the “fan is waterproof,” the “motor can be washed with water; the entire fan can be washed in the bathroom,” and “the motor continues to run in water very safely.” They also poured water on the fan and commented “it is OK to wash it directly with water.” The wording was a false, untrue and misleading representation with regard to quality of product in violation of Article 21 (1) of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed an administrative fine of NT$100,000 on each company.
  6. Wide Doctor (International) Enterprise Co., Ltd., a multi-level marketing business, violated Article 7 (1) of the Multi-level Marketing Supervision Act for failing to file with the FTC before changing its office address. The FTC imposed an administrative fine of NT$50,000 on the company.
  7.  Chunghwa Telecom posted a comparative advertisement regarding “charges for 100M + TV programs” and claimed that Chunghwa Telecom offered “83” “high-definition channels.” The claim was a false, untrue and misleading representation with regard to the content of the company’s television service in violation of Article 21 (4) in applying mutatis mutandis Article 21 (1) of the Fair Trade Act. Meanwhile, in the same comparative advertisement Chunghwa Telecom also indicated that the uploading speed of other providers was “10M” while there was “no” “daily life information” provided. It was a false, untrue and misleading representation with regard to the content of Internet connection and television services of competitors and the practice was obviously unfair conduct able to affect trading order in violation of Article 25 of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed an administrative fine of NT$800,000 on the company.
  8.  When marketing the “Zhong Yang Du Hui (transliteration)” housing project, Zheng Qun (transliteration) Construction Co., Ltd. and Shang Hua (transliteration) Enterprise Co., Ltd. marked the balcony space as part of the bedroom in the “A2 Unit (5-12F)” online advertisement and “A2 floor plan” in the brochure. It was a false, untrue and misleading representation with regard to content and use of product in violation of Article 21 (1) of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed administrative fines of NT$200,000 and NT$100,000, respectively, on the two companies.
