- When marketing its “Ren Fa (transliteration)” presale home project, Ren Fa (transliteration) Construction Development Co., Ltd. requested that homebuyers pay a deposit or a certain fee in order to view the purchase contract. The practice was obviously unfair conduct likely to affect trading order in violation of Article 25 of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed an administrative fine of NT$800,000 on the company.
- Telecom Multimedia Co., Ltd. offered a promotional package of a “subscription to fiber optic connection to get free cable TV service.” As the value of the gift exceeded half of the value of the service, it was an inappropriate provision of gifts to obtain a business opportunity in violation of Article 23 of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed an administrative fine of NT$50,000 on the company.
- In an advertisement for the “Jia San Lin Shui Li Fang (transliteration)” housing project, Jia Shi Lin (transliteration) Construction Co., Ltd. and Jaysanlyn Advertising Co., Ltd. indicated that there would be a swimming pool. It was a false, untrue and misleading representation with regard to content and use of product in violation of Article 21 (1) of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed administrative fines of NT$1 million and NT$600,000 on the two companies respectively.
- In advertisements for Stage 13 and Stage 15 of the “Bao Jun You Qian (transliteration)” housing project, Bao Jun (transliteration) Construction Co., Ltd. and Hua Guan (transliteration) Advertising Co., Ltd. marked the balconies as part of the kitchen and bedrooms on the floor plans for the 2F of the B and F Sections, the 4F of the C and E Sections of Stage 13, and the 4F of the B, C and D Sections of Stage 15. It was a false, untrue and misleading representation with regard to content and use of product in violation of Article 21 (1) of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed administrative fines of NT$400,000 and NT$200,000 on the two companies, respectively.
- In a TV commercial for the “Bing Li (transliteration) mobile water-cooling AC,” IEZ Mall Co., Ltd. claimed in the narration and subtitles that “the temperature in the room quickly drops by 8 degrees,” “you will find that the Bing Li mobile water-cooling AC is comparable to a 2-ton AC…bringing down the room temperature by 6-8 degrees…yet consuming only one tenth of the power that the AC would require.” The wording was a false, untrue and misleading representation with regard to quality of product in violation of Article 21 (1) of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed an administrative fine of NT$200,000 on the company.
- Genesis Pure Co., Ltd., a multi-level marketing business, violated Article 7 (1) of the Multi-level Marketing Supervision Act for failing to file with the FTC before changing its office location. The FTC imposed an administrative fine of NT$50,000 on the company.
