1. Hitachi, Ltd. filed a notification regarding its intention to merge with Yungtay Engineering Co., Ltd. through its subsidiary Hitachi Elevator Taiwan Co., Ltd. Citing Article 13 (1) of the Fair Trade Act, the FTC did not prohibit the merger.
2. Atlas Copco AB (Sweden) filed a notification regarding its intention to merge with US company Brooks Automation, Inc. and Japanese companies Ulvac, Inc. and Ulvac Cryogenic Incorporated through its American affiliate Edwards Vacuum LLC. However, it was an extraterritorial merger and therefore not subject to the jurisdiction of the FTC.
