  1. Japanese company TDK Corporation (hereinafter referred to as TDK), its subsidiary Thai company Magnecomp Precision Technology Public Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as MPT) and Japanese company NHK Spring Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as NHK Spring) contacted one another to exchange sensitive information with regard to HHD suspension assembly products to prevent price competition and jointly maintain or expand market shares to eliminate competition. The practice was able to affect the supply-demand function in the domestic relevant market. It was in violation of Article 15 of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed administrative fines of NT$159.09 million, NT$159.09 million and NT$285.55 million on TDK, MPT and NHK Spring, respectively.
  2. Xin Xin (transliteration) Natural Gas Enterprise Co., a gas safety equipment business, used gas safety check service notices, employee identification passes and uniforms that looked like the ones used by the local natural gas company to mislead consumers into believing the gas safety check service came from the local natural gas company in order to push its gas safety devices. The practice was deceptive conduct in violation of Article 25 of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed an administrative fine of NT$100,000 on the company.
  3. In an advertisement posted in the United Daily News, Soar Culture Co., Ltd. claimed “Our Buddhist money bills are American uncut banknote sheets released by the US Federal Reserve Bank particularly for the exhibition tour of the bone relics of Sakyamuni” and “the US Department of the Treasury specifically instructed the US Federal Reserve Bank to print out a limited quantity of these commemorative uncut banknote sheets.” The wording was a false and misleading representation with regard to production and release of product and could also affect transaction decisions in violation of Article 21 (1) of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed an administrative fine of NT$50,000 on the company.
  4. In an advertisement for the “Yueyue Changjie (transliteration)” housing project, Jiechang (transliteration) Development Co., Ltd. changed the balcony area into part of the interior space in the floor plans for the 3F and 5F of Building A and Building B. The practice was a false and misleading representation with regard to content and use of product and could also affect transaction decisions in violation of Article 21 (1) of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed an administrative fine of NT$500,000 on the company.
