  1. Shanghe (transliteration) Water Purifier Co., Ltd. used the pretext of holding raffles to obtain the personal information of people attending the activities. Then the company concealed the intention to market certain products and important transaction information to cause consumers to have misunderstandings and make purchases. The overall marketing practice was deceptive and obviously unfair conduct affecting trading order in violation of Article 25 of the Fair Trade Act. Therefore, the FTC cited the first section of Article 42 of the same act, ordered the company to immediately cease the unlawful act and imposed on it an administrative fine of NT$150,000.
  2. Shunlong (transliteration) Construction Co., Ltd. and XXX indicated that part of the area was to be used as bedroom and living room space in the layout for the first rooftop level of the B2 Block posted to market the “Zhuangjing (transliteration) New York” housing project. The practice was a false and misleading representation with regard to content and use of product affecting transaction decisions in violation of Article 21 (1) of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed administrative fines of NT$300,000 and NT$100,000 on the two companies, respectively.
  3. Farglory Construction Co., Ltd. and Farglory Land Development Co., Ltd. posted the wording “changing the daily life atmosphere of smaller residences” and floor plans suggesting the units were regular homes and also claimed there would be public facilities, including a gym, a meeting room and a guest reception area in an advertisement for the “Farglory Top Quality (translation)” housing project. The practice was a false and misleading representation with regard to content and use of product affecting transaction decisions in violation of Article 21 (1) of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed administrative fines of NT$2.5 million and NT$1.2 million on the two companies, respectively.
  4. In an advertisement posted on its company website for the GR-BL68 and six other refrigerator models of the “Jingya Huatang (transliteration) Series” LG Electronics Taiwan Taipei Co., Ltd. claimed the products had been rated “Level-5 energy efficiency” and “Level-4 energy efficiency” and also posted an energy efficiency level classification chart for “Level-5 energy efficiency” and “Level-4 energy efficiency.” The practice was a false and misleading representation with regard to quality of product affecting transaction decisions in violation of Article 21 (1) of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed an administrative fine of NT$300,000 on the company.
  5. GCOOP Taiwan Corp., a multi-level marketing business, violated Article 7 (1) of the Multi-level Marketing Supervision Act by changing its sales system and product items without filing with the FTC in advance. The FTC imposed an administrative fine of NT$50,000 on the company.
  6. Tatung Co., Ltd. claimed the products had been rated “level-1 energy efficiency,” “energy efficiency level No. 1” and “product energy performance level 1” in an advertisement for the TDH-121MB and TDH-460B dehumidifiers posted on its company website. The wording was a false and misleading representation with regard to quality of product affecting transaction decisions in violation of Article 21 (1) of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed an administrative fine of NT$200,000 on the company.
  7. In an advertisement posted on smallbossstore.com and a one-page site linked to the Facebook wall of “smallboss” to market a “cell phone high-power optical zoom telescope,” Qinlong (transliteration) International Co., Ltd. played footage showing far and close images of objects being photographed, and also posted the wording “zooming in and out with ease” but did not disclose any further information about the equipment. The practice was a false and misleading representation with regard to content of product affecting transaction decisions in violation of Article 21 (1) of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC imposed an administrative fine of NT$50,000 on the company.
