9.Reinforcing International Participation to Promote Global Cooperation
The promotion of international cooperation in competition matters is an important part of the Commission’s administration. It allows the Commission to have a firm grasp of the latest tendencies in competition law development across the globe and to improve international exchange and cooperation. In 2023, the Commission took part in a number of international competition law conferences and events and also served as a speaker or panelist to exchange policy formulation ideas and law enforcement experience. Chairperson Lee May even led a delegation on two occasions to attend international conferences and bilateral exchanges, fully exhibiting how much the Commission valued international affairs. The important conferences and events attended were as follows:
(1)The Commission attended the 18th East Asia Top Level Officials’ Meeting on Com- petition Policy and the 15th East Asia Conference on Competition Law and Policy co-hosted by Japan and Thailand.
Chairperson Lee May attended the
conferences and also served as a speaker during the Challenges and Regulatory Measures for Competi- tion Policy in the Digital Economy session and shared with represen- tatives of different nations the devel- opment of digital industry policy and competition policy in the country, the important policy implications
