(3) Formulating sustainable development guidelines
The concept of sustainable development has become increasingly valued across the globe. The governments of many countries have taken action to formulate related policies and guidelines. As a result, the green transformation of enterprises is an issue that cannot be neglected today. To ensure that the management practices of enterprises are able to comply with the target of environmental sustainability and prevent the enterprises from being penalized for violating antitrust regulations, the FTC started to formulate sustainable development guidelines in 2024 and announced the “Guidelines for Concerted Actions of Enterprises in Response to Environmental Sustainability” on Feb. 12, 2025 to make sure enterprises could be aware in advance of concerted action regulations that they were likely to violate when taking measures in response to environmental sustainability to cope with current and future challenges.
To ensure that the guidelines would be in line with international tendencies, the FTC held the 2024 International Conference on Taiwan Competition Policy and Competition Law in Jun. 2024. Competition law authorities from different countries attended the conference and exchanged experiences and viewpoints associated with sustainable development. When drawing up the Guidelines, the FTC also referred to sustainable development guidelines released by the competition authorities of other countries and communicated with different sectors. The FTC did not officially announce the Guidelines until several adjustments and revisions had been made.
